How do you give back to people who have given so much to you? One way is to share with you, the reader, how much I appreciate Dr. Upton, Dr. Schexneider, and the staff at Pacific Pet Hospital. "Thank you" doesn't even come close to the words in my heart. I've known these people for years, so my words are not based on one or two visits on a nice sunny day. Dr. Upton saved my Gypsy from a fast-moving auto-immune disease and she went on to be my companion until she was almost 16 years old. He Saved Jack, a kitty who I adopted to a family and had less than a 50-50 chance of survival. Jack’s still with me and rambunctious as a kitten – well, almost for a 13 year old. For those who didn’t make it, Dr. Upton, Dr. Schexneider, and the staff were there with warm, compassionate hugs and just the right words or sometimes just being there to let me cry. Not only are they skillful, but they’re honest with you. They won’t tell you tests are needed when they are not. They will not lead you down a primrose path and tell you only the things you want to hear. They will tell you the truth. The final decisions, though, are your own to make.
Prior to meeting Dr. Upton, I had been to many vets and spent untold amounts of money. None have compared one iota in compassion, honesty, and skill (qualities that really count in my book) to the staff with whom I am honored to associate. The front desk personnel are as much a reflection of the rest of the staff as are the vet assistants, vet techs, and the vet themselves. Receptionists do not get the respect and the kudos they really deserve. Yet, they can set the tone for the rest of the visit and the relationship with the hospital. My hat is off to Brad, Kim and Karla and whoever else is there when I walk in the door.
If anyone is looking for compassion, honesty, and a highly skilled hospital staff to take their companion(s), I ALWAYS give them the address, phone number and card (if I have one). Hopefully, they take my advice. I know some have and have lauded to me how happy they are that I did.
Very Sincerely,
Sandy Sato
